Cosy Cot Reviews

A perfect country retreat
The cottage is in a perfect location, about 15 minutes drive from Salisbury, but in a small hamlet surrounded by rolling hills. You can take the short walk along the lane and across the fields to a SPAR shop and the Pelican Inn (very nice). The cottage next door leaves the tastiest eggs in a basket on their step, so you can buy fresh eggs for breakfast every morning - wonderful. We visited in April and it was a bit cool to sit out, but there are nice views of the cottage and the church from the elevated garden at the back of the property. No BBQs for the record - due to the thatch. The cottage is very well equipped with washing machine, pegs, some logs, cleaning materials, towels, bedding and tea towels. The range and the heating were a bit quirky, but we were happy enough with both. Nice hot shower too. The DVD player has gone, but the TV upgraded to a smart-TV instead. Super comfy beds and sink-into pillows and duvets - really sumptuous. On one rainy morning, it was lovely to watch the rain dripping off the thatch. Stapleford is very well situated for Salisbury (what a beautiful city - so much to do here), Shaftesbury (of Hovis' Gold Hill fame), Longleat Safari Park and Stonehenge. Even driving through the countryside will reward you with picture-perfect villages at every turn. Salisbury with teens - try Live escape rooms, the water-meadows walk from Town Path - map from Tourist Information, the Tuesday and Saturday market, the Odeon cinema (go just to see the building!!), Fisherton Mill for innovative crafts, and the best Indian restaurant (actually Nepalese) - Everest Brasserie near the station. We loved this part of the world, and the cottage gives you a taste of country living with the niceties of modern-living.
