Hillside Cottage, Swinbrook is a stunning 5 star cottage, presented to the highest standard and without question one of the finest cottages in the Burford region. Voted Winner of The Best Holiday Cottage in the Cotswolds in 2019. The owners have overseen a superb renovation of one of the oldest cottages in this historic village to provide sumptuous (a word we haven't used on a cottage before!) self catering accommodation in a location that overlooks the village church - a truly quintessential spot. The kitchen is the real heart of the home: beautiful with high quality materials, and Aga and views across the enclosed garden. The four bedrooms and three bathrooms are similarly stylish, spacious and gorgeous.

Lovely accommodation. All that we needed.
Lovely property, easily accommodated 7 adults and one teenager for a long weekend. Good sized downstairs rooms allowed us to spread out but enough room for us all to sit together to eat in the kitchen or garden. Bedrooms generous in size, only one shower cubicle but that was not an issue for our group. Enjoyed our time there very much, great to spend time in the garden, such a peaceful location, a very classic Cotswold village. Excellent and very friendly pub in the village just a few minutes walk.

Great space, all cottage is fully equipped with everything you might need. location is great, a lot of country side walks just from the backyard. Cozy fireplace and setting room, big kitchen and dinning area, 4 comfy bedrooms. 1 bedroom was very cold, but the rest were all fine. Lovely place to stay in!

Great Holiday property, very comfortable, tranquil, Ideal setting for our Golden wedding Anniversary dinner and holiday, great setting next to Lovely historic Church with it's ties to the Mitford Family etc. Shame about the lack of Mobile phone signal, had to walk 34 mile to top of nearby hill to be able to send or receive.
I strongly recommend you do not stay at this porperty or use this company. The house had not been cleaned prior to arrival. It was littered with dead insects on the floor, dead flies on the windowsills, numerous cobwebs and more dead bugs floating in a halffull bath. We raised this with the property managers who gave reasons for the above eg they were unaware the cleaner had not been, the house has a known problem with woodlice and offered a clean, however we had already had to spend the start of our holiday cleaning it up. The house is as listed, however it is showing heavy use and wear and tear and is not at the standard expected for a listing of this value. This was in addition dirty mud marks from previous guests. On the third night the living room ceiling started to leak. We had to mop up and put vasesjugs down. It meant the living room was out of use for our young child. This was clearly not a new leak given the staining on the ceiling. We reported this to the property managers who explained they were aware of a leak and it should have been fixed. We find it unacceptable that a property with a number of known issues was let out and it hows poor management and a total disregard for the guests. Our complaints were met with reasons for this issue which did not resolve the matter. Additionally, as we did not have an account with Sykes there is no email address or message function to feedback. We have stayed in the cotswolds multiple times with different companies and so can vouch for this property and company being well below the experience expected for this area.
Very nice house, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The only two complaints are that the AGA was on when we arrived, making it way too hot inside 2425 C and some of the pans didn't work on the induction plate or were bent at the bottom making cooking less ideal.

Fantastic property in a beautiful village. The walksruns are astonishing, including a great walk just to the side of the cottage.

The property was perfect for a relaxing week away with the family and the dog. Although it has been a holiday home for many years, it was clean, comfortable, well equipped and we would happily stay there again. The only minor thing we would change is the shallow shower tray. On first use, water overflowed into the lounge below. To avoid this happening again, we kept shower times to 3 minutes.

Great Property in a village close to Burford actually Swinbrook a 35 minute walk outside of Burford village . House is well appointed and modernized inside . Lovely spacious rooms and garden . Unfortunately, they have decided to lock all the downstairs windows closed so that the rooms get very stuffy Pity Some maintenance needed .
We had the most amazing stay at Hillside Cottage in Swinbrook, Cotswolds. The property is a stunning example of a Cotswolds property, it has all of those features that you would like and expect and many more. At the same time its incredibly modern with great lighting, a beautiful kitchen and excellent WiFi and TVs. The bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms are large and spacious and very clean with superb decor. We were very blessed with amazing sunny dry weather all week and that meant we could get out and about to the food festival at Blenheim Palace, some lovely countryside walks and great meals at The Swan Inn and The Maytime Inn. Overall superb!
Overall we thought this was an excellent property. The only notable downside was the lack of wifi especially in the sitting room. The TV didnt stream at all well and was connected only to the wifi in order to watch it Netflix, BBCiplayer etc As we had booked a long stay we went ahead and bought a wifi network extender ourselves to solve the problem which it did. However it was somewhat strange that such a great property hadnt really thought about or factored in good wifi. Also the extender came at our personal cost which we of course left at the house for future use.

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Hillside Cottage over Christmas. So much space for entertaining and the kitchen is well equipped for cooking Christmas dinners etc. The house is beautifully furnished and the owners clearly have great taste! The location is excellent lovely country walks and a great pub on your doorstep, which made it feel very secluded yet still within easy access of Burford and larger supermarkets. Our only disappointment was in the quality of the bedding one of the bed slats in the second largest room had broken, meaning the mattress was on a slope. The pillows were not the best either. If this small issue could be fixed, the property would be 1010!

Hillside is beautiful and its village Swinbrook even more so. An intriguing stay next to the church as we learnt about the Mitford sisters. I did feel nervous about there being no house telephone, no outdoor phone box and no signal. If there was an emergency, we would not have the ability to call for services.
We had a great weekend at Hillside. It's a lovely property in a beautiful & peaceful hamlet. The house is well equipped but not as clean as I would have liked with several dead woodlice & cobwebs in the kitchen. The village pub was excellent. My experience with Manor Cottage wasn't good & I wouldn't recommend them or use them again. I found them unhelpful & inflexible.
Yes some comments An 18. 00 check in does not work for us. With a small dog and 3 month old baby not being allowed into the property until 18.00 makes the travel day very arduous. With a 10.00 departure, it effectively means we only have 6 days at the property. Given that the only realistic way to travel to Swinbrooke is on the A40, to leave later on Friday would have meant hours stuck in traffic jams. An 18.00 check in was understandable when Covid was rife but now it just looks like an excuse. Smaller issues The TV in the lounge is very difficult to operate. 'Stuart's' note says it should be tuned to AV7, after a very long time trying to make that work, it transpires ot should be AV5! There were no dishwasher tanblte sso we had to buy some. The vet lisited in your notes closed down some while a go. There is no phone signal in the house or anywhere nearby so impossible to contact anyone. A landline would be invaluable especially for emergencies. As you will see I am regular customer of Manor Cottages so I hope you will take my comments into account.
Really lovely cottage in a wonderful location. Walking distance to Burford with a range of cafes, pubs, shops or right on the doorstep in Swinbrook or nearby. Very comfortable cottage with nice bedrooms and garden, a really special place. To be really critical in the winter or poorer weather a better TV with either satellite or Netflix access would have been good but we were fortunate with good weather.
We had a quick visit to hillside and wished it could be a been for longer . House is gorgeous and I love the fact that it has a great dining kitchen which is a very sociable place to eat and drink . The lounge is cosy to relax in and what is great is the desk to work at which is off the hallway Bedrooms are spacious and great having 3 bathrooms and a downstairs toilet Would highly recommend
We had some minor issues which were dealt with very quickly Very happy with property

Cottage was lovely and spacious. For the costs of the listings I think it could do with some painting as it looks tired.
The cottage is advertised as having a cot and high chair. Yes, there is a cot but it is a travel cot which we couldn't fold up at the end of the weeksorry! Whilst this was fine for our 11 month Grandson,it would possible not have been big enough for an older toddler. Could this possibly be stated in the cottage information on the web site. Swinbrook is a picture perfect village with everything easily accessible and beautiful local walks. We would certainly stay here in this wonderful cottage again.
There were a few problems at the house relating to heating, a failed freezer and lighting over the kitchen island which failed. Problems can always occur. The test of any organisation is how they are dealt with. The ladies at Manor Cottages were superb at resolving the problems. They had a temporary freezer delivered and a temporary fridge. They kept us informed of how the various problems were going to be resolved with the least inconvenience to us. They were charming and polite and appropriately apologetic despite none of the problems being their fault. I particularly remember speaking to Jenny and to Claire which was always a pleasure.

Beautiful cottage, very clean, comfortable and well equipped and lovely and warm. Also lovely Christmas decorations.
